Blog Session 10: Evaluation of blog experience

Hello, everybody in my last post, I´ll talk about my blog experience in these weeks.  I write my post always in class, because I try to make the  blog in the university, because in my house I don´t have time to work in blogs. I think that i forgot one post and never I started and finished it. I practice English in other subjects, for example in Prehistory, in this subject the most of the texts are in English.

I read almost all my classmates´ comments, but I do not answer every comment, only some of theme. In my point of view, this activity is well made, because it has topics very interesting and contemporary and to improve this activity it would be necessary texts of similar topics with the topic of blog for the students to read in their houses and practice.

If I could, I would write about present social problems in Chile and the rest of the world, because it is very important to  know some of the problems affecting  our country and in this way to  expand our knowledge and  share our opinions with my  classmates.

In my last post, I feel relieved and calmed because in every past class I worked in my blogs and I learned  a little more of the English language.

G. Belzoni (1778-1823)

In this post, I talk about Giovanni Battista Belzoni; he was an important Egyptologist of XIX century. He was born in Padua, Italia at 1778. He was married with a English woman, her name Sara Banne. Belzoni work in circus, performing as strong man. Giovanni is considered as tomb robber because when he travel to Egypt, in this country he makes many discoveries, for example  he visited and he explored many temples such as: Edfu, Elefantina y File, he cleared of sand the Abu Simbel´s temple, and he discovered tombs in kings valleys, for example Ramses I and Seti I.

He was published a book in which mentioned their adventures and discoveries in archaeological area, the book called Narrative of the Operations and Recent Discoveries within the Pyramids, Temples, Tombs and Excavations in Egypt and Nubia. He was died at 1823 in Nigeria, Africa of dysentery.

This person is a tomb robber but is an inspiration for movies like that Indiana Jones, and although the archaeologist not engaged to steal historic pieces, this person represents archaeologist romance of every people, but in reality an archaeologist seeks to protect historic pieces.  

Chilean circus

In Chile the tradition of circus is very popular, in this is characteristic see a great variety of artists. But the most important characteristic of Chilean circus is their private aspect at daily life. In this we find many cultures of different Latin-American countries, for example is common see artists of Colombia, Ecuador, and Venezuela. Although in this we find different cultures, this form part of unique culture. An essential characteristic could be their organization among then is well defined, for example a woman makes domestic work and they are responsible of childcare. In the man case, this makes heavy works for example, set up the carp and build galleries, those process he make every time in different cities, because change of place, is their routine.

My proxy ethnography it will be above Chilean Circus, specifically the woman role in this and their auto image, the reason is very sample, because Chilean circus is very male chauvinist.

Blog Session 7: A photograph you like

This picture in samples words represent the end of my childhood, this scene is a most sad moments in the Dragon Ball series, because Gokú is the hero of this history says goodbye forever.  When I has eleven years old, I see this scene and my reaction above this, was emotional and I was feel sad. This series is a one most popular anime of the last time and Gokú is an icon for children’s.  In this picture we can see to Gokú on Shenron, a mystical dragon with a power of make your wishes. The context because Gokú it goes with Shenron is because is the only way of restore order in Earth, disorder brought about by evil stars of Dragon balls and he promise accompany to Dragon with the purpose of save the Earth and the humanity.

When I see this image, I still remember this moment of my childhood and goodbye of my favorite hero :´)

Blog Session 6: How green are you?

Almost every time, the people begin learn about environmentally friendly practices in their families, basically in early ages. The principal practices of this, is recycling, in my period of high school I know this practice, but don’t practice, because I think that this is very unnecessary and although too much people does and I considered that not worth my attention. In Santiago is very popular and many hippies studies joined in this crusade. In my view, there are different ways to help environment. The uses of bicycle for example, this transport help to avoid traffic, keeps you healthy and the most important you do sport. Generally the majority of the youth are use bicycle for transported in Santiago. Never in my life, I joined in Eco-organizations, because this practice not realized in my city (Curico). I would like learn forms of reduce my carbon footprint, because I don’t idea about this topic although this is will be very important in my future hippie life. In my view, Santiago is the most important city in our country in this topic, but is also the city’s biggest polluter. The principal factor of contamination is the great industries, the majority of this localized around of capital and cause environmental pre emergency’s. But in this country the culture of Green is not considered for the majority of the population and only people of Santiago it is aware.

Blog Session 4: THEMED POST(Movies)

Drama Movies and Wiplash

I should talk about of my favorite kind of movie, dramas movies are my favorite movie because have it conflicts between two principal characters of the film narrative and this causes in the spectator an emotional answer. The problems of characters they are related with the passion or interior problems. Generally the problem of their movies is love and this kind of movie promotes morality. The last movie that I see was “Wiplash” is American drama movie written and directed by Damien Chazelle. The argument of this movie is about  life of Andrew Newman interpreted by Miles Teller and yours promising career as jazz drummer. Newman enters in the best music conservatory of country “Shaffer” in New York, yours dreams for be the best are hampered by Terence Fletcher interpreted by J.K Simmons, an abusive orchestra director. I recommend this film is very cool¡¡

 

My favorite piece of technology

My favorite piece of technology is a computer. I received my computer three years ago in my birthday in October 10th. I use for many things, for example for university works, for play games in my free times and to organize my academic calendar. I think this is a very helpful piece of technology its functions are different and complementary. The good things of computers are we can transportable and can connect them to wi-fi. I can imagine my life without my computer because is very transcendental in my college life, for example I couldn’t make a work of university which require for make an ethnography.  If this happened my life as social scientist would more difficult as soon as the projects and investigations would take and I don’t want to happen.

Expectations for a New Semester

In this semester my expectations are very simples, mainly approve every subjects and comeback to soccer team of Facso and recover of my injury, because I have a shoulder injury. I´m doing 8 subjects: Anthropology II, Prehistory II, Evolution, Statistics, Research Workshop, Introduction to Ethnography, Psychology and English Preintermediate, and this semester I don’t take extracurricular activities, because I don’t have a time, but I would have liked  take them.

In this moment, I’m doing anything, because I need to take care of my injury. In this semester I have many subjects, and this means a heavy schedule. And in my free times I learn to play the saxophone and go to the park for practice.

Blog Session 1: My Auto Biography

My name is Francisco Ávila, I was born in Curico, at Hospital San Juan de Dios, Curico, on October 10st, many years ago… I studied at the Monseñor Manuel Larraín School, Liceo B-6 both in Hualañé. I followed my studies in Anthropology at the Faculty of  Social Sciences, Universidad de Chile, in Ñuñoa as well. I have a one brother and one sister, my brother work in the navy and my sister study Kinesiology. My hobbies are very funnys and very different. I like play football,  I started play the saxofon, I like the business for example sell clothes, Im going to concerts of reggae music and ska music. I have studing in the university of chile for two years and like my classmates and my new friends.
